Leonardo Da Vinci Italian Renaissance artist

                                                                    Leonardo Da Vinci

I chose to write about Leonardo da Vinci because he is also a very popular Italian Renaissance artist. Leonardo was born in Vinci, Italy on April 15, 1452, and died on May 2,1519 (age 67) in Amboise, France. Leonardo did a lot of art work, and most of them are famous here in the modern day world. He put a lot of effort in his work because they are really great! Some examples of his pieces are Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and The Vitruvian Man. *Fun Fact: If you take a look at the artwork Mona Lisa, she has no eye brows!

Leonardo Da Vinci was important because he had one of the greatest scientific minds of the Italian Renaissance. For example, he was the first person to study the flight of birds scientifically. He also had a strong influence on many famous artists including Raphael and Michelangelo! I think his art is excellent, because it's so artistic. I wonder how long it took him to make it though. I hope Leonardo and his artwork will always be remembered because he has made a great impact on our world.

The Medici Family

The Medici family was the most powerful family in Italy. They knew how to get and stay ahead. They made their way to the top either by bribery, corruption, or violence. The people who stood in their way, were most likely to be humiliated or even death. They also created an allience with the Catholic Church. The Medici also collected 10% of the peoples earnings, however if you couldnt pay, you faced excommunication (a one way ticket to hell). They lived rich since they were at the top. I think they had a kind of negative impact on society because they were strict and mean.

Life in the Mayan Empire as a Noble / Priests

Life was in the Mayan Empire as a noble or priest was not bad. They were right under the king, which was a good place in the social pyramid. They were the only members in society who could read or write. They were the ones who carried out the decisions of the ruler and ran the city.

They watched over the temple being built and collected taxes. They also led the armies, and wore fancier clothes. They wore gold jewelry and wore skins of jaguar. Priests maintained the relationships with the gods. It wasn't all that bad, and had some good parts to it.
